The chain conversion is a little too overly-ambitious for me! (but it does seem like a cool project) My belt is in good shape right now and should last awhile. While we're on the topic of "final drive", any thoughts on shaft drive? I'm looking at getting another bike next spring (still keeping the savage). I pretty-much had my mind set on the 2001 Drifter (800, chain drive), but then I sat on the Honda aero (1100 shaft). I really like the nostalgic detailing of these bikes. I'd rather have a new Indian, but as a magazine article I read said: "would you pay $36,ooo to dress up in skirts?"
